Albanian leaders have offered their condolences and support on behalf of the Albanian people to Croatia, following a magnitude 6.3 earthquake that left at least 5 dead and dozens of injured.
President Ilir Meta expressed solidarity with victims and those affected, and stressed Albania’s readiness to help in any way possible.
“Saddened by the severe earthquake that struck friendly Croatia today! Human solidarity with the Croatian people and authorities, with the wish to face with all our might this difficult situation and to alleviate the pain of the families who have lost their loved ones.
We are near Croatia, with all our available capacities, as strategic partners, side by side in every challenge,” Meta stated.
Prime Minister Edi Rama offered his government’s help to support the victims and authorities to cope with the devastating outcomes of the earthquake.
“Today I conveyed the expression of brotherly solidarity to President Milanovi and Prime Minister Plenkovi for the disaster over the city of Petrinja. Albania is close to the heart of friendly Croatia, and will give its modest help in healing the open wound from the strong earthquake,” Rama tweeted.
Nearly one year ago, Albania also faced a devastating earthquake that left 51 dead and thousands injured.
