Albanian Parliamentary Commission Unanimously Approves North Macedonia’s NATO Accession

The Albanian Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission unanimously approved North Macedonia’s accession to NATO.

The so-called protocol for North Macedonia’s accession to NATO was first approved by Greece last week, as a symbolic gesture following the agreement between the two countries which ended the decade-long dispute over Macedonia’s name.

North Macedonia is expected to be the 30th country to join the alliance. The protocol of accession needs to be ratified by all NATO member countries. The process is expected to last until the end of this year or early 2019.
