Albanian parliamentary committees will meet in person rather than online.
On Monday, parliament’s leadership approved the Socialist Party’s (PS) request, a request supported by the opposition Democratic Party (PD).
MPs must be vaccinated or show a negative PRC test to participate in committee meetings.
Originally, Parliament had decided that parliamentary committees would meet online given the rise in COVID-19 cases. However, the PD opposed the decision, calling it unconstitutional and disrupting the committees’ first online meetings.
Last week, the PS withdrew from its original position and submitted a request to hold meetings in person.
The Albanian Parliament has eight standing committees that focus on reviewing draft laws before they are submitted for a plenary vote.
