Albanian police have arrested 9 people in an operation against the cultivation and trafficking of cannabis sativa in five major districts.
In the last two days, special police forces and the Special Prosecution against Organized Crime (SPAK) conducted a major operation in Tirana, Durres, Lezhe, Puke and Shkoder, police announced on Friday.
It resulted in 9 people arrested, 2 put under house arrest, while 4 are still on the run. Police seized 3 bags of cannabis seeds, an undisclosed amount of cash, and a car.
The operation followed a previous one in August, police said, when they seized 4,000 cannabis seedlings.
Investigations have found that police officers have also colluded with the criminal group’s activity.
