Albanian Prosecution Demands Prison for Hospital Employees Charged with Rigging Tenders

The Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has demanded jail sentences for three members of the Elbasan public hospital staff for rigging two tenders worth €16,000.

Prosecutors initially demanded 8 months in prison for each of the three members of the committee that assesses tender offers, but they reduced the charges to two years of parole.

The three hospital employees—Anila Ballhysa, Mimoza Zyberi and Ardita Beqiri—face charges of favoring the winning company.

SPAK was established as part of the ongoing justice reform in Albania, with the main purpose of fighting organized crime and corruption among high officials.
