The leader of Democratic Party in Albania, Lulzim Basha opposed the Socialist majority initiative for an investigation on the claims of Dick Marty’s report on Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and the “yellow house”.
During a talk at “Story” Albanian- based TV show, Basha said that it serves Serbia and is a game that Prime Minister Edi Rama is playing in the interest of Serbia.
“This is another closed issue,” he said.
“Who cares? This is a clean service to Belgrade. I never, ever become part of the Belgrade service,” Basha said.
A “Yellow House” is mentioned in Marty’s report claiming it was in Northern Albania where KLA members kept prisoners whose organs were allegedly removed.
Albanian Parliament has approved an investigation and drafting of the report into alleged KLA crimes committed in Albania.
The Socialists’ request headed by Taulant Balla for an investigation comes nine years later, in the seventh year of their rule, amidst the newly started trial against Kosovo leaders, and a few months ahead of general elections in Albania.
Prime Minister Edi Rama has been criticised for politicising the issue and using it to attack Opposition Leader Basha.
Balla also accused him of being “an expert, an investigator against Kosovo’s liberation war”. Balla called on Basha to answer in public and in the court, and repent for his past.
According to public information, Basha worked as an operations officer for the Tirana Office of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in 1999, and then as a legal consultant for the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) from 2000 to 2004.
“You are asking me to justify something that is required of Belgrade. You have to tell Balla and Rama to stop this Belgrade game,” Basha said.
“The charges have been dismissed. Who are you serving? In an attempt to revive the accusations?!,” he added.
Basha accused Rama that he is the only one who mentions the “yellow house”.
