Opposition leader Lulzim Basha has joined protestors in Tirana, after the government demolished the National Theatre by night-time. He called on citizens to join.
Earlier today, the opposition decision to launch nationwide protests after the demolition of the theatre.
“Tonight is the night [for us] to show that Tirana won’t fall, it will rise,” Basha stated while sitting on the street with other protestors.
The opposition leader slammed the violence against protestors and warned the police that no one will be able to avoid accountability for the “barbaric violence”.
“We are here to show that whenever citizens are hit and harmed, the opposition will be near them,” Basha said.
He called on Albanians to disregard Prime Minister Edi Rama’s rule and respect the constitutional rights and duties.
Basha stated that today’s sit-in is the start of a joint plan of all opposition parties.
