Mirela Fana, judge in the High Court and recently elected member and chairperson of the Council of Judicial Nominations (KED), has handed in her resignation from both institutions today. She thus avoids the assessment of her wealth, as stipulated by the vetting law.
Today is the deadline for handing in the wealth declaration form at the High Inspectorate of the Declaration and Control of Wealth and Conflict of Interest (ILDKPKI).
Only a few days ago, on January 27, Fana was selected by lot as member of the newly instituted KED. As the member elected from the High Court, she was also automatically chairperson of the KED, with a mandate until December 31, 2017.
Now that Fana has resigned, the KED remains without chairperson and with a vacant seat. Fana has declared that she will continue her career in academia.
