Arrested Protesters Accuse Prosecutors of Falsifying Arrest Warrants

The arrested Kukës protesters, whose sentence is being decided on, today, by the court of Tirana, have accused the Prosecution of falsifying their arrest warrants.

The Prosecution is lying, we were not arrested in the morning. They came wearing masks in the night and took us away. The claim that we were arrested at 10 a.m. is untrue, they arrested us at 3 a.m. The prosecutor has falsified the records of our entry into the precinct.

The 23 arrested citizens are referring to the arrest warrants released by the prosecution for their arrests.

In these warrants, procured by Lapsi.al, prosecutors Edmond Karriqi and Alketa Nushi claim that the arrests were made at 10 a.m. on April 1.

Meanwhile, the 23 protesters, as it was widely reported in the media, were arrested during an operation that began in midnight, March 31.

The protesters have claimed that they were arrested during the night, as their terrified families looked on.

The 23 protesters are accused of “destruction of property”; “destruction of property by fire”; “opposing the official of the public order police” and “committing arbitrary acts”.
