‘Bajri’ Criminal Group Member Reports Head of Prisons to Anti-Corruption Prosecution

‘Bajri’ criminal group member Safet Bajri has filed a report with the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office (SPAK) against General Director of Prisons, Agim Ismaili for abuse of duty.

The accusations are related to Ismaili’s refusal to allow Bajri’s transferral from the Fier prison to that in Reç.

Bajri claims that remaining in the Fier prison constitutes a threat to his life.

Safet Bajri was arrested in Tirana in September 2018, at the behest of Belgian authorities. He has been convicted twice in Belgium. In 2015 he was sentenced to 9 years in prison, and in 2017, he received a 13 year prison sentence. According to Belgian police, Bajri controlled a key prostitution ring in Brussels.

He is currently serving his sentence at the Fier prison.
