Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group Taulant Balla said that the first intergovernmental conference for Albania and North Macedonia could be held next week if an agreement on the French proposal to unlock the EU accession veto from Sofia against Skopje is found.
He spoke at a press conference with a visiting deputy from the German parliament, Adis Ahmetovic who is also a rapporteur for the Western Balkans.
“We hope that during this week the right amount of support will be found or completed in the Parliament of North Macedonia, so that next week, on Monday or Tuesday, it will be possible to hold both intergovernmental conferences, with Albania and North Macedonia”, Balla said.
On Thursday, the Macedonian parliament is set to discuss the French proposal in detail, however deep divides remain along political and ethnic lines.
