Opposition leader Lulzim Basha has demanded the arrest of form Minister of Interior Saimir Tahiri be arrested for his involvement with drug trafficking between Albania and Italy.
During a press conference today, Basha stated:
Rama has refused to undertake any type of action. On the contrary, he has protected his Minister of Interior, and in his second government,has made him national coordinator for co-governance with the people.
We know that it is a matter of hours or days before the facts put in the disposition of the Albanian authorities about the links of Saimir Tahiri and about his direct responsibility for the protection and promotion of drug trafficking through the Habilaj gang. We know that for a long time these have been in the disposition of Edi Rama.
According to the opposition leader, the arrest of former Minister Tahiri is also demanded by “strategic partners, [who] for years and months put in the disposition of Edi Rama incontestable materials documenting not only the link but also the role of Saimir Tahiri as Minister of Interior in the drug trafficking between Albania and Italy.”
