After meeting with the foreign ministers of the Netherlands and Germany yesterday, opposition leader Lulzim Basha reiterated his stance that there will be no elections without a caretaker government.
Regarding the accusations of the government and German Minister of Foreign Affairs Sigmar Gabriel about the opposition’s blockade of the judicial reform, Basha declared:
The six laws [that are part of the judicial reform package] are without the approval of the agreement because the opposition was on purpose excluded by Rama in order to capture the judiciary. Under these conditions the opposition can never be Edi Rama’s alibi to capture the judiciary.
He stated that he was ready to talk with the majority about the laws of the judicial reform only when these laws drafted conform the Constitution and the Venice Commission recommendations.
The opposition is ready to sit down with the majority so that these 6 laws regain the spirit and character of the Constitution and the Venice Commission and only that will allow the opposition to go forward with its role as regards the approval of these laws and their implementation. This is the only way, everything else is lies and propaganda.
Basha also said that ignoring the drug problem is a “putdown for Albania and an encouragement for Edi Rama to plant tons [of marijuana] more.”
