Bill Gates to Fund Seven Coronavirus Vaccine Programmes

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates will fund seven coronavirus vaccine development projects.

Gates made the commitment during an interview with Trevor Noah’s The Daily Show . He said that through this contribution he could shorten the length of the fight against the pandemic.

“Money can save things. Although in the end we will select only two of the projects, we [Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation] will fund all seveen projects, so as not to waste time in the future waiting for which vaccine to make.”

This commitment means even greater solidarity from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which to date have contributed $ 100 million to research on Covid-19.

In past statements, Gates has backed restrictive measures taken around the world and called on the United States to take similar measures.

He has recently expressed optimism that the worst-case scenario of the pandemic-a death toll of millions- will not happen as long as social distancing measures are done properly.

Gates, 64, is believed to have a fortune of about $ 100 billion. Since 2006, he has been separated from the full leadership of Microsoft to devote himself entirely to philanthropy.
