The Embassy of Great Britain in Kosovo has called out political parties for holding electoral gatherings where anti- COVID-19 measures imposed by institutions, have not been respected.
“With our friends & family back in the under lockdown, we know all too well that this pandemic is not over and we don’t want to see the same again for our friends here in,” reads a tweet by the Embassy.
Alongside the text, they have published pictures of different meetings where political parties with their leaders are presenting their electoral program as the election campaign started on Wednesday.
“These elections are important but some of the pictures we have seen of large rallies and meetings without social distancing have been concerning. We urge all parties and their supporters to abide by Covid restrictions now that the official campaign period has begun,” the embassy said.
Political parties have been fined on several occasions by Pristina’s Inspectorate for violating COVID-19 restrictions.
Snap parliamentary elections are set to be held on February 14, while the parties have ten days for the election campaign.
