CEC: 10-15 Problematic Electoral Candidates Identified

The CEC has indicated there are 15 electoral candidates that could have issues with the decriminalization law.

State Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi said in an interview with ABC that the CEC will seek verification in the prosecution for 15 cases, including MP Tom Doshi.

Celibashi said that in Doshi’s case, verifications should be made by the prosecution because according to him, the CEC simply verifies the documents.

“The CEC is not transferring the case, but we are in the process of verification and requires the commitment of the Prosecution. The CEC administers and evaluates the documents. The day before yesterday we registered the lists. And we have official candidates for deputy. It is not just Doshi, so far we have 10-15 cases but this will continue. The documentation is being verified and we will send it to the Prosecution. “

Celibashi said media reports, self-declarations, and publicly available data were all being considered.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) approved Tom Doshin ‘s request to run as a Social Democratic Party (PSD) MP in the April 25 elections.

US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim called on the CEC not to register persons barred from entering the United States. The Democratic Party also called on the Central Election Commission not to allow Tom Doshi to run.
