The Committee for Complaints and Sanctions at the Central Election Commission has denied the opposition’s request for repeat elections in Vlorë. This is the third district for which the CEC has found the evidence provided by the opposition insufficient to warrant repeat elections, after reaching the same conclusion in Berat and Gjirokaster.
The opposition may appeal the decisions before the Electoral College.
The main opposition party, the Democratic Party (PD), has requested that the CEC repeat elections in 9 of Albania’s 12 districts, while the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) has asked for recounts in 5 of these districts. On Thursday, the CEC decided to recount some ballots in Berat.
