On Sunday, artists and civil society in Kosovo held a protest over the demolition of Albania’s National Theatre building and in solidarity with the protests in Tirana.
Dozens of Pristina citizens joined the organizers at 17:00 in front of Kosovo’s National Theatre.
“The Theatre is a trap where the dictator is caught” and “I am the Theatre” read some of their banners.
Protestors said they gathered to give their support to the three-year-long efforts of the Albanian Alliance for the Protection of the Theater and “expressed their indignation at the unparalleled arrogance and opposition to the action of the Albanian Government and the Municipality of Tirana.”
Ten theatres in Kosovo, including the National Theatre, decided to cancel their shows on the day of the demolition of the Albanian National Theatre.
