Coronavirus Update: Zero Cases so far in Albania

There are still zero confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Albania. The Ministry of Health announced that 17 suspected cases have been tested so far, all of which have been found not to have the virus.

In a press release, Eugena Tomini, Head of the Epidemiological Intelligence Service, said that about 3500 passengers have been stopped in the last 24 hours. She called on citizens who have traveled from Italy in recent days to isolate themselves as a preventative measure.

“Yesterday (February 26) four cases were tested in the PHI virology lab, which proved to be negative for COVID-19 [coronavirus]. From the outbreak of the epidemic in China until yesterday evening, 17 suspected cases were tested, which resulted in negative for COVID 19. Of their total, 8 cases had travelled to China and 9 cases had travelled to Italy.”

Italy, the source of coronavirus outbreaks in Europe, continues to report an increase in those affected with more than 450 confirmed cases.

On Wednesday, Greece and Northern Macedonia became the next states to report cases, while in Albania authorities confirmed there were none.

According to Thursday’s daily report, about 82,200 people have been affected by the virus (78,500 in China), 2,800 have died (2,747 in China).
