The Tirana Prosecutor’s Office has requested imprisonment for 4 employees of Shefqet Ndroqi Hospital who are accused of abuse of office.
Today, a hearing is being held against 3 nurses and 1 nurse, who are suspected of collaborating with former nurse Tire Alldervishi.
Sanitary worker Alldervishaj is in prison after she was accused of posing as a nurse to relatives of a patient being treated for COVID-19 and extorting money from them that she alleged was used to provide better care. The patient eventually died and her family spent more than EUR 6500 on bribes.
Alldervishaj is accused of fraud and abuse of office.
Also today, a nurse who was accused of stealing a patient’s wallet and making ATM withdrawals was demoted to house arrest.
The woman had been remanded in custody but the Court of Appeal ruled that she would return to house arrest. She is accused of stealing around 20,000 ALL (EUR 160) from his bank account while he was intubated. He died some days later.
She has been charged with theft and abuse of office.
