Defendants in Kosovo Serb Politician Murder Plead Not Guilty

Six defendants in the case of the murder of Kosovo Serb politician, Oliver Ivanovic plead not guilty during a hearing in Pristina’s court, on Friday.

Nedeljko Spasojevic, Marko Rosic, Rade Basara, Silvana Arsovic, Dragisa Markovic and Zarko Jovanovic, were present before the court, while three other accused Zvonko Veselinovic, Milan Radoicic and Zeljko Bojic are in the run.

The defendants are charged of being part of a criminal group led by Zeljko Bojic, Zvonko Veselinovic and Milan Radoicic, from 2014 to 2018.

It is also alleged that the defendants knowingly and intentionally helped that criminal group in order to commit the criminal offense of murdering Oliver Ivanovic.

The indictment claims that Nedeljko Spasojevic assisted in the aggravated murder, namely, with the official vehicle of the Kosovo Police he transported the perpetrators of the assassination in the Opel Astra car, from which Oliver Ivanovic was shot.

Zarko Jovanovic is accused of concealing evidence at the scene of the murder, while Dragisa Markovic is accused of abusing his official position by “giving information to a police officer from Serbia”.

The Special Prosecution of Kosovo accuses Marko Rosic of having assisted in the criminal offense of aggravated murder, namely, for following any movement of Oliver Ivanovic with his vehicle.

Silvana Arsovic is accused of being a member of the criminal group, whom she helped carry out the aggravated murder by turning off video surveillance cameras at the time of the murder.

Oliver Ivanovic was killed on January 16, 2018, in front of his party building in North Mitrovica.

He was the leader of the civic initiative Freedom, Democracy, Justice (SDP).
