Electoral Reform work will be postponed indefinitely as a result of the coronavirus situation in the country. The reform was planned to be completed until March 15.
Co-chair of the Electoral Reform Committee Rudina Hajdari announced the development, stressing that the four parties involved in the discussion would not be holding virtual meetings.
Talking live for Report TV, Hajdari said that online arrangements with the parties to postpone talks have been difficult as “[they] have trouble agreeing at the table, let alone online.”
Hajdari said that technical experts are working on the proposals put forth a few weeks ago regarding possible changes in the electoral system. The proposed changes included, in particular, open MP shortlists that would allow voters to choose the person they want to represent them.
