The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has nominated Enver Hoxhaj for Prime Minister Prime Minister in the upcoming snap elections in Kosovo.
In a press conference on Wednesday, a PDK MP, Uran Ismajli said that Hoxhaj in addition to his academic career, has a long institutional and political experience.
“He has worked for long close the two statesmen we do not have here today, Kadri Veseli and Hashim Thaci, making the aspirations of the citizens for independence and state-building, real,” Ismajli said.
Former Presisdent Hashim Thaci and former Parliament Speaker Kadri Veseli, are currently facing war crime charges in The- Hague based Kosovo Specialist Chambers, after an indictment against them by the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office was confirmed. Both, Thaci and Veseli led PDK.
PDK’s candidate for Prime Minister Hoxhaj currently is acting PDK chairman following the resignation of Kadri Veseli in November when was transferred to The Hague.
Uran Ismajli added that PDK enters these elections with a clear program for the needs of citizens and a team ready for the economic and political recovery of Kosovo.
Hoxhaj previously served as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs in two Governments and Minister of Education.
The Constitutional Court of Kosovo decided for the country to go on snap elections, by ruling that the voting of the Government was not valid due to a decisive vote by an already convicted MP.
