The EU Ambassador to Albania, Luigi Soreca has encouraged the Albanian government to keep its promise to incorporate all Venice Commission recommendations regarding controversial amendments to the media law, including proper public consultations.
In a tweet on Thursday, Soreca encouraged the government to consult with media organizations, civil society and to actually consider their views.
.. good note of the statement made yesterday by the ruling majority that it will follow these recommendations and that proper consultations will take place. We encourage the 🇦🇱authorities to undertake the necessary consultations with media organisations and civil society, ..2/3

Soreca added that his office will follow developments relating to the amendments.

The reaction comes after increasing concerns of domestic and several international media organizations that the government is palling to pass the amendments without implementing the recommendations of the Venice Commission.
