The practice of clapping initially appeared in Italy to show support for people whose work makes them especially vulnerable to coronavirus infection, particularly doctors.
The European Union has pledged up to €50 million in aid to Albania for fighting the coronavirus outbreak. The aid will include €4 million for immediate medical equipment, €11 million for social protections, and up to €35 million for economic recovery. The support measures already taken by the EU in Albania consist of a social media campaign instructing people on how to properly behave during the pandemic.
On Monday, Albanian authorities reported 11 more infected cases. Since March 9, 223 coronavirus infected cases have been found, 11 of which have resulted in death, and 44 of which have recovered.
