EU Special Envoy Miroslav Lajčák has reached out to Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić today to discuss the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, about a week after he took over the new task.
As part of my outreach to the region‘s political leaders, I talked to Pres @avucic today. Had good & constructive talks on expectations from the Dialogue, #COVID19 response & 🇪🇺assistance,+ the economy. Looking forward to working together with my partners for all people in the WB

Last week, Lajčák responded to a letter by Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who had presented the envoy with Kosovo’s expectations from the dialogue. Lajčák also reached out to President Hashim Thaçi with virtually the same letter setn to Kurti. He assured both leaders that he will work “tirelessly and dynamically”, and that he expects both sides to renew their commitment with the same determination.
Lajčák commended Kosovo for lifting the tariffs on Serbian goods, calling it “a first concrete sign of willingness to engage in the EU Facilitated Dialogue.”
On April 3, the Council of the EU appointed Miroslav Lajčák as EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Prishtina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues for a one year term.
