The European Union will launch an investigation separate from that of the United States and China, to find out where COVID-19 originated from and how it was spread.
According to EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, member states are working on a draft resolution with a clear plan to be presented to the annual WHO Assembly on 18 May.
“The EU is not blaming anyone at the moment, apparently from this document. They want to have a thorough discussion about the origin of COVID-19, how the spread was allowed, where the virus came from and how to prevent it from happening in the future, ” explained Euronews correspondent from Brussels Jack Parrock.
In an interview with the French newspaper Le Journal de Dimanche, Josep Borrell said the EU investigation should be “far from the battlefield between China and the United States, who blame each other for the events in a situation that only how much it has irritated their rivalry ”.
A few days ago, the US government said COVID-19 came from the Wuhan Laboratory of Virology.
But the WHO said on Monday that the US government had not shared any evidence with it to support its claims that the new coronavirus started in a lab, much less one in Wuhan.
