Famous Albanian sculptor and artist Arben Bajo passed away on Sunday following his battle with COVID-19.
He was diagnosed with the virus and his condition had deteriorated rapidly. Bajo had been intubated for a number of days and friends had appealed for a blood donor as he needed it urgently. Unfortunately, the 52-year-old succumbed despite the best efforts of the medical staff.
The authorities did not confirm whether he was suffering from any underlying conditions.
Bajo was born in Gjirokaster in 1967 and studied in Fier before continuing his education at the Academy of Fine Art in Tirana. He has had numerous exhibitions both locally and abroad. His sculptures include statues of prominent Albanian figures such as Father Zef Pellumbi, Asim Zeneli, and Vace Zela.
