Albania has provided COVID-19 vaccines for 500 medical staff from Kosovo. They received the AstraZeneca jab in Albania’s northern city of Kukes over the weekend.
The administration of vaccines came after the coordination between the two governments, and the outlining of a priority list of doctors and nurses fighting with the coronavirus in Kosovo.
Kosovo is the only country in Europe to have received no COVID-19 vaccines at all. It’s not clear whether the vaccination campaign in Kukes will continue until Kosovo gets its first batch of vaccines this spring.
Albania received 38 thousand AstraZeneca doses this month and offered Kosovo medical staff to receive theirs in Albania, given the requirement not to export vaccines.
