The first coronavirus infected case has been found in the southern Albanian city of Saranda during the last 24 hours.
A 23-year old from Manastir, near Ksamil, experienced COVID-19 symptoms and went to the Saranda hospital to receive treatment for pneumonia. At the hospital, he tested positive for coronavirus.
The 23-year old was sent to Tirana to be treated, while the Public Health Institute (IShP) is still conducting an epidemiological investigation into this case.
Though the first coronavirus cases in Albania were reported in early March, Saranda had seen no reported cases until now. Albania saw a surge in coronavirus infected cases about a week after the government lifted most restrictions on June 1.
