Former Minister Tahiri Case Judge Dismissed by Vetting

On June 17, the vetting commission has dismissed Special Appeals judge Nure Dreni, one of the judges in the case against former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri.

The Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) body made up of Olsi Komici, Xhensila Pine, and Suela Zhegu, dismissed Dreni mainly because she lacked the legal income sources that could explain her wealth and expenses.

Dreni will no longer be part of the judicial body that will review the case of former Minister of Interior Saimir Tahiri.

A draw also placed Dreni in the judicial body that would decide on whether or not Special Appeals Chamber (KPA) judge Luan Daci would be reinstated. However, Dreni resigned from this appointment. Instead, Daci’s reinstatement was decided by Nertina Kosova, Dhimitër Lara and Sokol Binaj.
