Freedom House has assessed Albania to be a “Partly Free” country. Preliminary data from the report show Albania’s 2020 score has dropped 1 point in the political rights category, compared to that of the previous year.
Albania received a score of 67 out of 100 total points.
It received 27 out of 40 total points, losing one point from the previous year, in the category of political rights which assesses the functioning of the electoral process, the effectiveness of political pluralism and participation, and the functioning of government.
It retained the same score as that of the previous year, 40 out of 60 total points, in the category of civil liberties that encompass freedom of expression and belief, associational and organizational rights, rule of law, and personal autonomy and individual rights.
