The French Ambassador to Albania, Christine Vasac has appealed to Albanian institutions to get the Constitutional Court and Supreme Court functional as soon as possible.
During a visit to Korce today, the Ambassador said:
“The Constitutional Court should be formed as soon as possible. Political personalities are all aware of this….there are a series of important problems that require solutions. It is also important for the Supreme Court of work, but this is at a more advanced stage than the Constitutional Court,” she said.
For over two years, the Constitutional Court has been dysfunctional. Currently, the court has four out of nine members and cannot take on any case or give any decisions. There is a backlog of tens of thousands of cases, many of which are against the government, that will take years to clear.
