The German Federal Ministry of Defense has delivered the first batch of medical equipment to support Kosovo and Montenegro’s efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last week, a German army plane transporting the aid and soldiers and material for the German KFOR contingent, landed in Pristina, KFOR announced on Friday.
The medical goods mainly included personal protective equipment such as FFP2 masks, surgical masks, disposable gloves and protective eyewear. They are aimed to be used by the medical personnel treating COVID-19 patients.
KFOR noted that this is the largest individual aid measure of the German army provided internationally. It is intended to support the Kosovo and Montenegro forces who work in civilian hospitals.
A second batch of equipment is expected to arrive by road for a total of more than 10 tons.
KFOR supported the operation in the Pristina airport.
Kosovo has recorded 15,758 cases and 630 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic; Montenegro 11,690 cases and 172 deaths.
