German Embassy in Tirana Remembers Albanians’ 1990 Mass Exodus

The German embassy in Albania remembers today the massive exodus of Albanians in July 2, 1990.

In a Facebook post, the embassy reminisces how, from July 2 to July 12, Albanians sought refuge in the territory of the German embassy. “30 years after thousands of people stormed foreign embassies we want to remember these historical days,” the embassy writes.

In a video posted by the embassy, German ambassador Peter Zingraf recounts how over 3000 Albanians occupied the German embassy, under difficult conditions, for 10 days.
