The Minister of Health Manastirliu has announced the government plan to vaccinate one Albanian every minute once it receives the vaccine doses.
“We plan to vaccinate 60 people every hour, maybe some more, for 8-10 hours every day,” Manastirliu told Prime Minister Edi Rama during their inspection of the national stadium on Monday, which is being turned into the national vaccination center.
The minister explained to the prime minister that the stadium will host a “pre-vaccination area”, where people will fill in documents. Then they will be taken to the “vaccination area”, where they will be injected with their dose. Last, they will be moved to the “post-vaccination area”, where they will be under medical care for 30 minutes, to make sure that there are no immediate side effects.
Similar centers will open in Vlore and Shkoder first, and then throughout the country, she added.
Manastirliu said the government has prepared necessary refrigerating facilities for up to 30,000 Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine doses.
On December 30, Rama announced he had agreed with Pfizer on the text of an agreement for vaccine purchase. On January 1, he announced during a morning press conference that the deal was now signed, and the first 10,750 doses will reach Albania in three weeks. Another 30,250 doses will come in February, and so on.
Rama urged Manastirliu on Monday to speed up preparations and launch the vaccination campaign before the planned third week of January.
