Greece Extends Closing of Kapshtica Border Checkpoint Due to COVID-19 Cases

The Greek government has decided to keep the Kapshtica border crossing closed until February 8, the Albanian police has announced.

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Albania has influenced the decision.

Only people travelling from Greece to Albania will be allowed to cross the border in Kapshtica until February 8th, from 6 am to 10pm.

The Kakavija border crossing remains open for those eligible to travel.

  • Greek citizens;
  • Albanians with Greek residence permits;
  • Albanian Greek minority;
  • Diplomatic corps travelling for work;
  • Albanian citizens provided with special authorization by the Greek diplomatic missions, for work or health reasons;
  • Truck drivers transporting goods.

Travelers are required to present a negative PCR test at the border.
