The Greek police have discovered a criminal network of at least 33 members, including police officers, who operated to provide Albanian criminals awaiting arrest with fake Greek passports and ID cards.
Reports so far suggest that the group had been operating since December 2016. The police officers involved were members of the Attica police force and received €5-40 thousand per identification document. Wanted persons who then received these documents became Greek citizens with clean records, free to travel in the EU.
At least 12 recipients of these fake passports have been arrested in Greece, France, Spain, Bulgaria, and the Netherlands, after being involved in criminal organizations, drug trafficking, robbery, and theft.
