Director-General of the State Police, Haki Çako, today responded to the accusations of the LSI and its request for his dismissal.
I am leading an organization depoliticized by law. I am on top of the job and will continue to be on top of the job for as long I am exercising my office with the greatest care for detail. I am following the entire electoral process.
Çako emphasized that the State Police is one of the institutions with the highest credibility in securing and managing the electoral process and that the transparency of the police during this period has been maximal.
In spite of the claimed neutrality of the State Police, Prime Minister Rama has violated the police’s neutrality by using a police vehicle in an advertisement campaign and recently called upon the State Police to gather votes for the PS. In neither case did Çako respond publicly.
