The Court of Peja has put the Mayor of Istog, Haki Rugova under house arrest for a period of one month. He was arrested two days ago for suspected abuse of office, acting in conflict of interest, and forging documentation.
His deputy was also arrested and has also been placed under house arrest.
Rugova’s lawyer, Besnik Berisha has claimed he has submitted evidence to the court that proves his clients innocence.
Rugova is the deputy chairman of the ruling party, the Democratic League of Kosovo.
