A total of 7 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Albania during the last 24 hours.
Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu made the announcement in Parliament this morning. She added there are currently 272 active cases, out of a total of 773.
To date, 470 of those diagnosed with the virus have been cured and 31 have died. Manastirliu said the epidemic is still active in Albania and that 24-hour tracking of contacts is being carried out.
She stated that measures taken by the government have yielded results but we are not at the end of the situation.
“We are still in the active phase of the epidemic…The first phase has passed and we are heading for reopening after consulting with foreign and domestic experts. We must be careful not to reduce the measures of social distancing,” she said.
“Several businesses have been opened to assess in the next two weeks, the epidemiological curve, the cases of hospitalised patients and all those in the structure of the system that are affected by reopening.”
