High Judicial Council Dismisses Judge Sentenced to Prison for Corruption

The High Judicial Council has dismissed Judge Shkëlqim Miri of the Tirana Appeals Court.

The decision came at the request of the High Inspector of Justice (ILD), who argued that the judge has violated public trust.

Shkëlqim Miri was arrested in November 2017, after police found more than €270,000 in his house.

He was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for corruption. The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office (SPAK) has requested for his assets to be seized.
