Franca is committed to supporting Kosovo in the dialogue with Serbia, which should lead to mutual recognition and normalization of relations.
The statement was made by Kosovo’s Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti following his meeting in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Hoti visited France on Tuesday to discuss the resumption of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia ahead of two upcoming meetings.
A virtual summit will be hosted by Macron and German Chancellor Merkel focused on the dialogue on July 10.
Two days later, EU chief diplomat Josep Borrell will host another summit, marking the resumption of the dialogue, facilitated by the EU special envoy Miroslav Lajcak. Kosovo will be represented by Hoti, and Serbia by President Aleksandar Vucic.
The EU-led initiatives come after a White House summit facilitated by US envoy Richard Grenell was postponed indefinitely at the last minute due to announcement of war crime indictments against Kosovo President Hashim Thaci.
Topics discussed between Hoti and Macron also included developments in the region and its EU integration, and visa liberalization for Kosovo.
The two countries signed two agreements; one on launching the French Development Agency (ADF) in Kosovo, and another one regarding the employment of diplomats’ family members in host countries.
