Independent candidate in the Dibra district Elton Debreshi gave a statement yesterday following the announcement of election results.
Debreshi describes his campaign as an attempt to turn all of Albania’s attention to the miners and that he will continue in this work.
“This was not just an election campaign, but a great joint effort to turn the attention of all Albania from the cause of the miners and the deep problems of our region. We went from village to village and neighborhood to neighborhood, meeting thousands of accomplices. With our deeds, we touch our hearts and we won the respect of an extremely large number of people, by building bridges of a continuous joint effort”, said Debreshi
He said that votes from all three parties were bought in Debar. Regarding the number of votes, he says that it was less than the solidarity and support he found in Debar during the campaign.
Debreshi said he is still hopeful and his efforts for miners’ rights will continue.
“Nevertheless, since the campaign for the collection of signatures of the Miner Status, we have managed to lay the foundations of a strong organization and solidarity between the miners, activists, and the youth of Bulqiza”, says Debreshi.
He thanked the miners and young people of Bulqiza who supported him in the campaign. Debreshi also thanked the activists of the Political Organization who helped him during the campaign.
“This joint effort must neither be stopped, nor can it be stopped, nor will it be stopped. We will deepen our political struggle for the status of miners and the rights of workers across the country, with an unwavering belief in social rights and solidarity,” said Debreshi.
