Independent Qualification Commission Judge to be Investigated by SPAK

Another member of the vetting commission has been reported to the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK).

Suela Zhegu, a member of the Independent Qualification Commission has been charged by Appellate Judge Alaudin Malaj for forging a self-declaration form.

The judge, who has been in the process of re-evaluating the matter by the KPC since 2018 has accused Zhegu of misappropriating her deceased brothers property.

In 2018, Suela Zhegu was investigated by the International Monitoring Operation for conflict of interest. This was because she was part of a panel that would be trying a judge who had been a rapporteur of a case against her partner. He was accused by the Durres Prosecutor’s Office.

Despite this, Zhegu continued to be a part of the panel that assessed the judge, despite the clear conflict of interest.
