In a Facebook post, the organization said that decisions made via these means of communication “deviate from the principles of the rule of law, violate constitutional freedoms, weaken institutions, create negative precedents in state memory, ignore the principles of transparency and accountability, and are acts of abuse of power.”
They called for a return to decision making being conducted through the council of ministers, government and other institutions involved. The parliamentary assembly should exercise the function and constitutional control of executive power, as per Articles 170-174 of the Constitution.
Over the weekend there were small protests against decisions Rama made via Facebook. After announcing that the Grand Park of Tirana was closed for the weekend, citizens approached the park and demanded to be let in. When the police refused, they asked to see the directive or legal decision that enforced the ban. As there was none, the police relented and allowed the citizens to pass.
Activist Kastriot Cipi also refused to move from a coffee shop on Saturday as he said there was no legal reason why he should and the police officer was not wearing an identification number.
