Kosovo, Serb List Leaves Government over Đurić Arrest

Kosovar Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj stated today that he will not resign, even though after the Serbian political group Serb List left his coalition, the government no longer holds the majority.

“I do not plan to resign. I will keep on working.” Haradinaj stated in a press conference. Haradinaj declared that the Serb List’s decision was incomprehensible.

The departure of the Serb List from the government yesterday, followed the arrest of Serbian official Marko Đurić and his removal from the country.

Marko Đurić, head of Belgrade’s office for Kosovo and Metohija, was arrested yesterday in Mitrovica, after entering Kosovo illegally and attempting to organize a rally.

Đurić’s arrest was labelled by Haradinaj as “a normal enforcement of the law.” He added that any person illegally entering Kosovo would have elicited the same reaction from the police.

With the departure of the Serb List from the government, the coalition now constitutes of PDK, AAK, NISMA për Kosovën, Aleanca Kosova e Re, who together fail to make up a majority.

Defending his decision to not resign, Haradinaj claimed that after Serb List’s departure, he is now supported by many MPs that weren’t previously part of the coalition.
