Kosovo and Serbia See Big Spike in Coronavirus Cases during last 24 Hours

A total of 79 new cases of Coronavirus were confirmed in Kosovo yesterday, bringing the total to 372 overall.

According to a statement from the National Institute of Public Health, the most affected areas are the capital Prishtina and Ferizaj. To date, seven lives have been lost to the virus.

Some 250 samples were conducted in 24 hours, 79 of which were positive. One patient was cured in 24 hours, making a total of 59 recoveries.

3,256 cases have been tested in Kosovo all together, with 362 coming back positive. The Institute said that all of those who lost their lives had additional health concerns at the time of death.

Some 4,795 individuals who have come into contact with confirmed cases have been identified. The Institute said they are self-isolating and have been advised to seek medical help if they develop symptoms.

In neighbouring Serbia, 250 cases of the virus were confirmed in the previous 24 hours and six people lost their lives.
