KEDS, Kosovo’s energy distribution company, announced there would be country-wide power cuts in response to the ongoing energy crisis.
Starting on Thursday, Kosovo household and businesses will experience two-hour power cuts that will be spaced out throughout the day.
KEDS’s announcement suggest that the power cuts may not be limited to Thursday, but may continue until further notice.
85% of Kosovo’s domestic energy production comes from thermal power. Outdated stations contribute to low domestic production and a global energy crisis has increased import prices.
KEDS called on citizens to be careful with their energy consumption and use alternative heating measures, as end of the year holidays has led to overloads.
