All flights have been cancelled to and from Adem Jashari International Airport in Kosovo today.
Over the past three days, 160 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the country and two people have lost their lives. The alarming increase in cases shows a deterioration in the epidemiological situation.
The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo said that since the easing of lockdown measures, many new cases have been found and new outbreaks discovered in previously unaffected areas. This has been due to people not keeping the recommended distance or wearing masks.
“Given that in the last week we have an increase in positive cases that in intensity are compared to mid-April and we have cases of employees of public and private organizations, such as Post of Kosovo, KEK, KEDS, Art Gallery, banking institutions, health, agencies, commercial companies and private businesses, we recommend the Ministry of Health to close the sectors where there are positive cases and their contacts to be kept in self-isolation, while masks should be mandatory! ” the NIPHK said in their announcement.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,486 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Kosovo, 1,183 patients have been cured and 33 people have lost their lives.
